cultural seed and food distribution to Indigenous recipients

cultural seed and food distribution

At Sovereign Seeds Farm, we produce cultural food crops and cultural seeds for free distribution to Indigenous households and initiatives. We distribute free cultural seed and food boxes to Indigenous recipients across Southern Ontario, with a focused concentration across the City of London, County of Middlesex, and surrounding First Nations, as well as distribution efforts across  surrounding areas of Wellington County, Dufferin County, Region of Waterloo, City of Hamilton, Brantford and Brant County, the Greater Toronto Area. We distribute free cultural seeds to Indigenous recipients across the country through our own and partnered events.

cultural crop stewardship

Sovereign Seeds farm is a caretaker of dozens of at-risk cultural seed varieties. We steward these seed relatives for increased seed stock quantities, improved genetic health, and regional and climate adaptation, in addition to distribution and rematriation efforts. The farm conducts seed variety trials and other ancestrally-informed Indigenous agricultural science projects. By stabilizing and strengthening these varieties, we are ensuring food sovereignty and strong food cultures for current and future generations.
