workshop summary

Curious to learn how to harvest seeds from your garden? This workshop will provide you with teachings and techniques to save seeds from your veggies, herbs, and garden fruits, with a special focus on the three sisters. Attendees will be introduced to some key information about wet seed harvesting and dry seed harvesting, cleaning and drying seeds, best practices to store seeds, and tips on keeping a seed inventory. We will cover key terms and concepts and share some brilliant ancestral science. Whether you are growing at a big or small scale and in rural or urban spaces, there will be something for everyone! This workshop is intended for folks who have some existing knowledge about gardening (this workshop will not be teaching about how to grow). Participants will gain foundational knowledge to harvest and store seeds to strengthen their seed keeper learning journeys.

This is an Indigenous-only hybrid event with 25 in-person registration spots and 75 live stream attendance spots (priority access to Manitoba residents). Attendance is free. In-person attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an end-of-event seed, food, and medicine exchange.
